EnergyTrap.org is a project of the New America Foundation, a non partisan think tank based in Washington D.C. EnergyTrap.org as well as the study have been generously funded by the Rockefeller Foundation. The principle researcher is Lisa Margonelli, a California-based fellow at the New America Foundation. Lisa spent four years hanging out along the oil supply chain -- from a local gas station, to the NYMEX where the world's crude prices are set, to oil fields in Nigeria, Iran, and Venezuala -- for the book Oil On the Brain: Petroleum's Long, Strange Trip to Your Tank.

At EnergyTrap.org she'll be reporting on how middle class families pay for their cars and fuel. Elizabeth Wu, manager of California media relations at the New America Foundation, is doing outreach and publicity for the project. When you write to EnergyTrap.org, one of us will write back to you.
